Taxonomy :
Ameerega cainarachi was described as Epipedobates cainarachi by Rainer Schulte (fr) in a publication that appeared in May 1989, and as Epipedobates ardens by Karl-Heinz Jungfer (fr) in a publication that appeared in July 1989.[5] The species was placed in Ameerega in the major revision of dendrobatids in 2006.[6]
Description :
Males measure 25–26 mm (0.98–1.02 in) and females 28–31 mm (1.1–1.2 in) in snout–vent length. The back of this species is red.[2][3] The sides are black.[2]
Habitat and conservation :
The species' natural habitats are lowland tropical moist forests and "rolling hills" at elevations to about 600 m (2,000 ft) above sea level. It is threatened by habitat loss caused by agriculture (e.g., coffee and livestock production) and subsistence wood collection.[1]

Distribution
Peru, northern San Martin department. Type locality is the Cainarachi valley. This species is more common in the Huallaga canyon between elevations of 250 and 750 meters.
Natural History
This attractive frog is most commonly found near small streams where it is thought to deposit tadpoles. This riparian lifestyle is a marked difference to A. bassleri and A. trivittata, which prefer standing water for tadpole deposition.
Conservation Status
Due to its small range, rarity, and high market demand, this species could be considered at risk. Much of its habitat is near human settlements, and ongoing deforestation could have a strong negative impact on this species.
Notes
Part of the petersi group, sister to A. petersi.
