The 3-Stripe Damselfish, also known as the Three Striped Damselfish, White-tailed Damselfish, and Humbug Dascyllus, is a popular fish. Three bold black bands are separated by two white bands with a smaller bar of white to offset the tail.

 

A 30 gallon or larger aquarium is suitable with plenty of hiding places. Due to its aggressive behavior as an adult, it will do well with other moderately aggressive fish in a community tank. It will not harm invertebrates or disturb the tank setting.

The Golden Domino Damselfish, also known as the Yellow Domino Damselfish, Threespot or Yellow Dascyllus. This species is so named due to the three white spots on its yellow and black body. This variation of the standard Domino Damsel is highly sought after for its unique coloration.

 

A 30 gallon aquarium or larger with plenty of live rock and décor is ideal. Because it can tolerate substandard water parameters, it is a popular fish among beginning hobbyists. A small group of juvenile Golden Domino Damselfish will add color and drama to most marine aquariums. Maintain this species with other semi-aggressive or aggressive fish, as they will become territorial as they mature.

Rolland's Damselfish is also known as the Black Cap Damselfish, and these fishes originate from the South Pacific. They are a beautiful fish colored in yellow, black and white, and are relatively mild mannered for a Damselfish. These fishes will add color and activity to any saltwater community or reef aquarium.

 

A 30 gallon aquarium or larger with plenty of rockwork and décor is ideal. Because it can tolerate substandard water parameters, it is a popular fish among beginning hobbyists. A small group of juvenile Black Cap Damsels will add color and drama to most marine aquariums. Maintain this species with other semi-aggressive fish, as they can become territorial as they mature. In larger reef aquariums, this is normally not a problem if plenty of hiding places are provided.

Add a regal and hardy Damselfish to your reef aquarium with the Regal Demoiselle. This stately dark beauty is blackish grey with a lyre tail that frames an elegant burst of yellow. It is commonly kept long term in small schools, if provided ample swimming space and room to roam. It is a relatively passive fish that adds a dramatic effect to the reef or fish only aquarium.

 

Native to reefs ranging from mid-depth to shallow lagoons of the Indo-Pacific and South Pacific, wild specimens prefer to school in large shoals amongst branching corals like Acropora. In the home aquarium, the Regal Demoiselle does best in similar environments and will actively swim at all levels of the aquarium water column. Small schools of the Regal Demoiselle add a unifying and understated pop of beauty to almost any well-established reef system.

Similar in appearance to the aquarium favorite Yellowtail Damselfish, Pomacentrus similis is an electric blue jewel of the aquarium boasting a sunny yellow tail. This color combination looks stunning against any backdrop of corals and live rock. But what pleases aquarists most is that the Similar Damsel is less aggressive and does not need as large of an aquarium as other Damsels.

 

Native to the reefs of the Maldives, this member of the Pomacentridae family prefers multiple hiding places and peaceful tankmates. Though most Similar Damselfish will ignore other fish, invertebrates, or corals, some may be territorial towards its own kind or similar-sized fish.
